Radiance Growth
Radiance Growth is the event of the Radiant Disk centered over Chronwhorl expanding. When the disk is about to expand the intensity of the light increases six-fold and the air is filled with a faint humming noise. Once the expansion itself begins, the hum changes to more of a chiming noise. Once the chiming starts, motes of light start floating off the edges of the disk and drift outward. The distance of the light drift is different every time. It will soon slow to a stop and the Radiant disk will send pulses of light from the center of the disk out to the ring of motes.
The light pulses continue for several hours. When it does stop, the ring of light motes is the new edge of the Radiant disk. A faint variation in the intensity of the disk makes it possible to see where the edge was previously.
Whenever the Radiant Disk expands its is a sign of increased safety and stability for humanity. Once the tell-tale humming starts, most people go outside to watch how far he motes will travel. The period of time while the disk pulses out is considered a vigil of observance before six days of holy festivals.
The festivities celebrate the new safety and power of humanity, but are also a celebration of growth. In Chronwhorl the main event of the festivities is an event for determining citizens who will travel out to settlements now under the expanded protections of the disk. The citizens are given titles and sent out to each settlement that has become within reach of the disk's light. The goal is to develop those outlying villeges into grander and more established settlements.
While this event is held for everyone, the titled position is almost always given to a Lightbringer. The citizens of Chronwhorl usually arent too upset by this because 35 volunteers are selected to travel with them and help, while resettling in the new area.
