Hall of Good Tidings
Two days dark from the Battle Spire of Chronwhorl the land transitions from foothills and fields to a desolate landscape of wind and sand for as far as the eye can see. The desert region was once as lush as the lands around it, but the constant battles in the time just after Chronwhorl was founded made the area into a wasteland and it never recovered. A single road winds its way through the region. A traveler journeying through this land will come across only a single stop along the way. A waystation and trading post with a large hall for food and rest. The Hall of Good Tidings.
The Hall of Good Tidings began as several large tents and slowly grew until the tents were joined into a larger space. As the people of the area settled into the location more, the tents were slowly replaced by a large, low, sandstone building. The hall has open arches on all sides with cloth draped in the opening. At night think cloth is pulled across the arches to keep in the heat, but during the day the thicker cloth is pulled back and gossamer cloth is left to blow in the breeze.
Crossing through the arches, any victors are met with the sight of low vaulted ceilings forming domes of greater and greater height as they neared the center. Rooms are separated by more thick cloth, where the vaulted arches in the ceiling extend down into pillars. The only interior wall is a circular one at the very center of the hall. A large cylindrical space is closed off, which accounts for a decent section at the center of the hall. This area is mainly sectioned off for storage. A long bar wraps around most of the pillar, with a small section gated off for the owner and staff to cross through.
Instead of having a sectioned of kitchen space, the cooking is done over large fires spaced out in the area closest to the bar. Tables and benches fill the space between the fires. Along the outer walls are the 'rooms' for travelers to rest. Each room is separated by heavy drapes, so that there is a space with one to four beds and a small space around them.
