Risalka grew up with her clan, wandering the chilly lands of the Sunken Orrery. She enjoyed the solitude of nomadic life and took her leave to forge her own path, acting as guide to tourists whenever necessary to make some coin, crafting friendships with solitary gurus and hermits across the lands. One day, in her adventures, she found a wounded baby vulture, and with the help of a nearby monastery, saved the creature’s life through magical means. She keeps this bearded vulture, Barbara, with her always as her closest companion. Now, she sails with the crew of the Valerie.

Tattoos across her arms. A red stain on her chest to match the coloring of her beloved bird, along with face tattoos mimicking the facial markings of her bird.

Apparel & Accessories

She has wrapped thick bandaging around her neck and shoulders to hide scars/prevent more scratches from Barbara perching on her. She wears a fur collar around her neck in homage to her upbringing in the cold. Booty shorts and thigh high fur boots. A falconer’s glove always on her arm or nearby.

Personal history

I will try to remember the things that are important. I grew up with my clan in the sunken orrery. I was always the smallest of my clan. They liked exploring and learning about the things of the past, and I guess I liked exploring, too, but I was more interested in what was happening now: baby birds hatching in their mothers’ nests, the way the weather whipped the snow banks into new shapes. When I was grown, I decided to take my little Barbushka and forge my own ways into the world. I made lots of friends. I said goodbye to most of them. I found the boat. I really like this boat. I don’t have to walk so much, and yet I still get to move. It is a very good way to take a journey. Good people, too. I will do whatever they need, I am easygoing like this.

Barbara is her male bearded vulture. He was found wounded as a baby, and she bargained for some magic items to help him never be near death again. His soul is kept in a bauble she keeps tied around her wrist — if he is ever injured, she twists the center bead and his body reforms perfectly. She does baby him, terrifying though he looks. He is a fearsome bird, but in her eyes he is just her precious little Barbushka, the cutest thing in the world.

This nomadic Goliath never felt truly at home until she perched herself up in the crow’s nest of the ship Valerie. She and her bearded vulture, Barbara, like to keep a quiet eye out from their vantage point up in the skies.
