Taane Tribe

While most halflings are hurled people, like the Too Tribe, the Taane are sharper, more cautious and mysterious. Their villages are always deep inside their islands, near the sacred places in the jungle or in the slope of volcanoes. All of the Taane seem to have an special connection with The Great Dream, and most of them know how to understand the meaning of the dreams and learn how to find signs in them. They use dreams as indicators of what trails follow in their lives. If the dreams aren't propitious, the Taane won't risk going outside their villages. That's why many islands in the Jade Archipielago look deserted. However, the keen observer may find the traces of the Taane people.

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

FOLLOW THY DREAM   The Taane often say "follow your dreams", but when they say it, they not only refer to your inner desires. The Taane believe that dreams are the true guides of what people should do. That's why they only act if the signs in their dreams are propitious, and they always try to have dreams before they do anything.   Tribal traditions rules: Taane tribe characters will always try to have a Long Rest before venturing into somewhere dangerous or before taking an important decision. During the Rest they might try to roll an Arcana check at CD 25 minus the chracter level. If it results, it will work like an Augury spell. Like in this spell, the character will receive an omen about the results of a specific course of action that you plan to take within the next 30 minutes. The DM chooses from the following possible omens:   • Weal, for good results   • Woe, for bad results   • Weal and woe, for both good and bad results   • Nothing, for results that aren't especially good or bad   Just like the spell, this ritual doesn't take into account any possible circumstances that might change the outcome, such as the casting of additional Spells or the loss or gain of a companion. But, unlike the spell, there's not a cumulative 25 percent chance of a random reading.   The character won't risk to become Tainted if they don't do this ritual, but they will do risk it if they don't follow the advice given by the DM (even if it looks random). Also, they will risk the Taint if they don't do the eight hours sleep before the given adventure or decision that might had required the dream.
Subracial traits:   Ability score increase: Your Intelligence score increases by 1.   Taanes' knowledge: You can add your Proficency bonus to Arcana checks. If you are already proficent in Arcana, just double the bonus. From the elder shaman to the little kid all Taanes have knowledge in the mysteries of the Great Dream, and they know how to interpret its signs and magic.
