Lieutenant Yalavar von Contradi is an officer in the Union Naval Department. They currently serve as the logistics officer of The Roam of Night.
An unlanded noble Karrakin from the House of Sails, a minor house in the House of Remembrance, Yalavar began their service in the UND after attending the Karrakin Naval Academy. Originally, their commission in the Baronic Unified Command was bought by their Contradi relatives, but after graduation they declined to serve in the BUC and instead struck out on their own, beginning a career with the UND shortly thereafter.
Persistent rumors surround Lt von Contradi: that they did something unspeakable on their homeworld of Arrudye that necessitated their fleeing into the ignoble naval service, that they signed up with the KNA on a whim or a drunken dare, that their family bought their commission in the UND, too, and so on. None of these are substantiated⁠—in any case, their record is immaculate, they are a competent officer, and many Arrudyen, both noble and not, leave their overcrowded moon to explore a variety of futures.
