Frost Crop

A unique type of fruit that tastes of bread when eaten that can survive any part of the Freilands. It was bestowed upon the people of the land by a circle of druids that had not been seen before in the region,

Basic Information

Anatomy

The fruit appears like an deep pink spiked potato growing off the stalks of small grasspods that pierce the ice. The roots of the plant are thin and spread wide across the ground while giving off a supernatural heat that gingerly melts the nearby ice to release the water and nutrients held within into its roots. The stalk can be strung to create a crude rope that is used through the region and feels of rough silk to the touch.

Genetics and Reproduction

The fruit while hard is nearly impossible to grow without intervention of creatures, the pollens of the plant do not carry far and in the frigid environment they die out quickly. Therefore the plant requires farmers to artifically reproduce it by chopping off small parts of the stem and nurturing it with a nearby fire until it takes root in the ice.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

When near the fruit one can feel and odd calm and it smells of fine petrichor. The taste feels like burnt bread that rolls smoothly on the tongue with the texture of a mango, it sits heavy on the stomach. There is a rare version of the crop grown using the ashes of the fallen as fertilizer, when consumed it is said to awaken the innate memories of the ancestors.
