Black Footed Barb

This bird stands an imposing six feet tall and is flight capable but generally prefers walking on its thin black legs. Under normal conditions it has black and gray plumage, but if standing completely still it is capable of changing its feather colors to match the environment. Since it is a carnivorous avian it will use this to ambush its prey. In the event it fails this ambush it can use its tail feathers as a projectile.

Its feathers are quite venomous and cause paralysis in larger creatures and even death in smaller ones. This also functions as a defense mechanism for any creatures biting into it are likely to take the full force of this toxin.

It is hunted for this venom which is sold on the black markets of the world by its street name Blackfoot.

The feathers themselves, after purified, have been turned into cloaks and confer similar benefits to those who wear it.

A variant exists known as the Yellow Footed Barb. Interestingly, the venom of each of these variants counteract the other. Unfortunately on the black market most of it is all sold as Blackfoot making this very unreliable.
