When Adelphie was a baby, she was very conscious due to her divine nature. And when she was born, her light and purity destroyed her mother’s body, crippling her and killing her shortly after. Adelphie was left in a crib as they operated on her mom, trying to save her life. So she witnessed her mother’s death as a baby. Normally, people are supposed to forget things they see as a baby, but I have the idea to have Adelphie remember everything. So as she grew into a toddler, she was very traumatized and sad and just not a very happy person. So she started to stray away from a lawful good lifestyle. That’s when Amriel takes notice of her odd behavior and yeets her up to heaven, forcing her to stay in his residence and not leave. This did not allow her much freedom, so she eventually locked herself into that lawful good alignment, not by choice per se, but by confinement and brainwashing.
Once Amriel felt as if Adelphie wouldn’t be an issue anymore (around her early 20’s) he lets her finally roam heaven freely. That’s when Adelphie meets Christine. They quickly become best friends, and spend nearly every day together. They grow extremely close, and so Adelphie finally brings her home to show that she had made friends. Amriel is extremely disgusted by the fact that Adelphie had made friends with a lesser god, especially one of the neutral good alignment. So he bans Adelphie from ever seeing Christine again.
Adelphie rebels, and doesn’t listen. She goes to see Christine less, but still very often. Amriel is informed about this by his most trusted Deava, and decides to issue punishment. He takes Christine away, using torture to purify her mind (since the spell was not yet created, I assume Amriel would use these kinds of methods)
When Christine comes back, she isn’t the same. She’s a mindless Zombie to Amriel’s will, and Amriel decides to make Christine Adelphie’s hand maid. Instead of growing to hate her father (which is heretical)
she grows to hate Christine.
She starts to hate Christine for not being pure in the first place. She hates Christine for making her vulnerable. She resents the object of her affections because she made her hurt.
Adelphie swears from that day forward that no one would make her feel like that ever again, so she dedicates herself to family, and completing missions for Amriel.
When Azazel is born, and Amriel clearly takes a liking to him for his tenacity, Adelphie grows jealous of Azazel for having father’s favor, and that warps into a sick love for him, because she tries to model herself after him and it gets very complicated.
Eventually the combination of trauma and spicy memories and envy turns into the Adelphie you know today. Fearful of her father, and unwilling to let anyone else she loves get purified that way. She is also obsessed with having a family of her own, so she becomes attached to the idea of having a child who looks just like her so she can raise a little girl the way she would’ve raised herself.
