Tristan Generators
Lysander Tristan created the first electrical generators in 950. His work in steam engines was instrumental to the device's creation, and provided inspiration for the basic mechanics of the generator; he envisioned a perpetual generator after watching the spinning centrifugal governor of a locomotive as it picked up speed.
While Tristan's first idea was for perpetual energy, he realized that this would be highly improbable, if not impossible. Instead, he developed a spinning flywheel with magnetic counterweights passing through electromagnetic arches to generate power. The device would require a pull cord or a small amount of reserve electricity to start, but once it did, it could generate electricity almost indefinitely.
The device was a smashing success when it was unveiled, and Lysander Tristan's fame began to skyrocket. In his honor, the world referred to the device as a Tristan Generator, and the name stuck.
