Truegold

From the distant lands beyond the Sundered Mountains, from the mythical gold giants, there is made in secret a gold that is stronger than steel ans given to enchantment like a dry sponge to water. In the common tongue it is called Truegold but in the far east it is called Guyadei and in the West, Theringil.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Truegold looks exactly like regular gold in every way, both in its color and its luster.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Truegold is unique to common gold in that it is but hard and strong. It is not nearly as malleable as common gold, but can keep a shape better than the best steel. But the metal is not made brittle for this hardness, but is in fact incredibly durable.

Origin & Source

It is believed that Truegold is simply gold which has had its properties altered by some skill or magic.

History & Usage

History

Truegold can be held alone as the single secret to the incredible military strength of the ancient Kingdom of Danlau and maybe even Waillongu Soga. For, upon seeing the Truegold that Lingdo was able to produce, Danlau offered to trade him vast quantities of gold from his great mines under the mountains of Soi Wosan, in exchange that some of that gold be turned to Truegold. Lingdo's kingdom became a bastion for producing the stuff, though they kept it a deadly secret among his most trusted smiths.

Discovery

It is believed that Glare, mother of all Gold Giants discovered the making of Truegold in the Mist-Cloaked Vale. She believed, so the legends say, that though Danlau was her first-born, he was not worthy of the secret so she bestowed it instead to Lingdo.

Everyday use

Truegold seems intended for weapons and armor of war. It is glorious in sight and yet hard and strong, perfect for weapons and armor. However it has also been used for commoner tools, works of art and similar objects.

Cultural Significance and Usage

Truegold is a cultural icon of the Korubojin and the empires that came before it, a symbol of their immense power and unmatched prestige.

Refinement

There is so little known about the making of Truegold. Is it truly gold that has been altered? Or is it some kind of alloy? Or some metal all-together different that simply looks a lot like gold. Is it possible the objects are made traditionally with the malleable gold and then turned into Truegold? Or is gold made True somewhere along its processing from ore and then used elsewise? None now know.

Distribution

Trade & Market

Truegold is so incredibly rare that a simple knife made of it becomes a family heirloom of kings anywhere but in the land of the Korubojin. But even there, the stuff is uncommon and carefully managed and inventoried by the royal house and then dolled out only to their most valuable agents and warriors.

Law & Regulation

Outside the realms of the Korubojin the stuff is so rare that its use or ownership is not codified in law. However the Korubojin very carefully inventory what pieces they have and keep close tabs on those they let out of the royal vaults.
