Mist-Cloaked Vale

When the Archenlord formed the first mortals, the mother and father of the The Kindred Peoples, he set them into a verdant Mist-Cloaked Vale. Here the Kindred would grow, build and learn under the warm, gentle sun and the cool, soothing moons, and prepare to move out into the wider world to seek and defend the Pillars of Heaven. For as long as the Kindred would go, they could also come back to their beloved Vale.   But the Kindred grew complacent in their paradisaical home, and refused the calls of the Archenlord. Soon, his calls turned to warnings, threatening to take the Vale from the Kindred forever if they did not go. When the Kindred refused, the Archenlord sent fiery mountains from the heavens to crash into the Mist-Cloaked Vale, ruining it forever such that it is now called the Sundered Vale.   Few remember the story of the Vale, and fewer still have any notion of life beneath that brilliant sun or that star-flecked sky.

Geography

The Mist-Cloaked Vale was a deep, verdant valley in the midst of massive, snow-peaked mountains. Snow melt from those monolithic peaks would flow down into the valley, merging into three rivers which met in a long, placid lake. True to its name, the Mist-Cloaked Vale was always disguised by heavy fog, but once inside the vale the fog would seem to part to show the brilliant azure sky in the day or the star-flecked glory in the night.

Fauna & Flora

The Mist-Cloaked Vale was like an Empress's garden and an open-air zoo at the same time. Trees of every description stood one at a time or in groves and all bore fruit or nuts for eating or roots for curing ills. Wildflowers of every conceivable color grew in the wide meadows. Bushes and shrubberies of many kinds grew as well and all bore sweet berries or bright flowers and never a thorn or bramble to do harm to man or beast.   Creatures too, thrived in the Mist-Cloaked Vale and many stories say that even predators did not hunt but would eat fruit from the trees or taken gently from the outstretched hands of children. Birdsong gloried in the trees and bushes. Squirrels and rabbits and deer frolicked in the meadows and never scattered at the sight of man. Wolves played in the fields with sheep and the taint of the Sundering was on none of them.

Natural Resources

The mountains around the Vale were rich in strong stone, flecked with precious gems and near to pouring with ores. It was from these that Jaron forged the first iron implements, Pretora cut the first gems; and Solun wrought the first works of stone.   The Vale was home to many hardwood trees and from these Harkin built his first boat and Golan devised the first wheel.   Many a ground plant was found from which Loric would take and breed into grain and animals with which Frellus would grow friendships with.
