Within the Waterdeep division of the Black Network, Davil is accorded the title of Master of Opportunities and Negotiations because he's good at sniffing out lucrative business deals, and he makes friends easily.
Like many sun elves, Davil has an affinity for magic and is gifted with the kind of patience that comes with a long life span. Unlike most, he's not the least bit pretentious or aloof. He keeps a room at the Yawning Portal and does all his business in the establishment's taproom. He negotiates deals with grace and aplomb, even while drunk, and uses an elven lute as a spellcasting focus.
Davil can put the characters in contact with other leaders of the Black Network's Waterdeep division, namely Istrid Horn (if they need a loan), Skeemo Weirdbottle (if they need magic), Tashlyn Yafeera (if they need weapons or mercenaries), and Ziraj the Hunter (if they need a highly skilled assassin).
The Doom Raiders. The Doom Raiders were five unscrupulous adventurers who liked to plunder lich lairs (called "dooms" by some). They gave up adventuring to join the Black Network and came to Waterdeep three years ago with plans to establish a Zhentarim foothold in the city. In that time, they have forged alliances with various nobles and guilds and run afoul of others, all the while fending off Harper spies.
He was known to keep a room at the Yawning Portal, conducting all his business in the taproom.
Davil Starsong was naturally capable of finding profitable business deals and making friends, which was ideal for his position within the Black Network. Being a sun elf, he had a natural aptitude for arcane magic, making him a fine bard, along with having the patience of someone who might live ten times longer than even his most fortunate friends. Unlike other sun elves, he was not aloof nor pretentious. He always traded with grace and aplomb even when drunk

Davil was once an adventurer but together with his adventuring companions he decided to join the Zhentarim.[4] In the year 1489 DR, they were directed to establish a Zhent foothold in Waterdeep.
In 1492 DR, Davil was seen riding a carriage with a half-orc bodyguard, in the Dock Ward of Waterdeep. It was said he could put people he favored into contact with other acquaintances from the Zhentarim, who in turn provided profitable loans, sold magic, weapons, mercenaries, and even arranged assassinations. He and other Zhents were captured by the City Watch later that year, following the Gralhund Villa Bloodbath.
