Wist

Wist, the thread of existence that all things that be pull from. It is a field of energy that fuels the order of existence. It is a metronome that pulses to the heartbeat of the world. It is the physical essence that makes up a soul.
It can be refined, and wielded by mages, as Wisthread or Wistmettle.
It can build in concentration without meaning until it catalyzes into a Wistorm.
It is the order that exists to allow everything else to have meaning.

Manifestation

Not seen or felt to the naked eye, it is observed through the paths it takes and wears into valleys of order, where wind only blows one direction or rain always falls in the same pattern. Existence is softest where it is most absent, and it has the most power when it first fills those voids.

Localization

The wist field is constantly trying to equalize, but it cannot easily cross over the valleys it carves, and so the knots it ties form wide fields, where wist levels are either higher or lower than the global average. Where they are lower, the chaos of life is accelerated; rivers twist with time, animals take on traits different from that of their parents, even mountains may go through sudden and rapid changes. Where they are higher, the opposite occurs; stasis is found as once disparate objects equalize their forms.
These boundaries are redrawn most easily by a wistorm. Rarely does one cross a major river, but it can push and pull at the borders. Where those tiny shifts are made, instability can exaggerate and accelarate the changes.
