Sling Dragon: A sport for three or more players.

A classic games for growing bodies and active hearts, it is a sport found in variations across the eastern nations. Most popular among the Dubrician people, it is also greatly enjoyed in Ville Sensa and southern Sannes.

History

One of the oldest sports, it is a classic game for the masses to enjoy. Everyone with a wisthread has played a good bit at one point in their life. A lack of central organization or larger competitive leagues made for countless minor variations on the basic model of the sport.   It was banned in 3350 by the Charmotesian Cult for encouraging violence and bloodshed. Many Frevillers still play in secret, either hopping borders to Sannes or Ville Sensa, or hosting entire leagues deep in the forest.

Execution

In Sling Dragon, one player is the Dragon, and must carry a large stone weighing at three to ten kilogrammes. This is their ‘hoard’. The other players are the adventurers, and are trying to take control of the stone.   At both ends of a field there are two posts. They are about a meter long, and are sunk 15 centimeters into the earth, or deep enough to stand freely, whichever is deeper.   The Dragon wins by knocking down every post by throwing the stone with their wisthread as a sling.   The Adventurers stop the Dragon by grabbing the hoard and placing it on the top of a standing post. When they do so, all posts that were knocked down are set back up, and the player that claimed the hoard is the new Dragon.   Play continues until there is a winning Dragon.

Components and tools

The following are the abridged specifications from 'The Gentlemage's proper guide to accurate Sling Dragon play' and should not be taken as a greater authority.
Sling Posts. One meter long, made of a straight maple branch.   Sling Stone. Four killograms for youth games, twelve for proper sporting.   Field Size. Twenty-five meters in length, and Sixteen meters wide.   Sink one post in each corner.   Four players total, the host of the game decides who starts as the Dragon.   Any player who strikes their opponent in a manner to injure shall be forever expelled from play.
Placement of posts, legality of contact, and field dimensions and rulings for exiting the field are the most widely contested variations across cultures.
