Charmotesian Cult

Seventy years ago, a young man with great charisma and skills in both oration and writing presented his thesis on the origin of Wist storms in the University of Trainay. He was Lyon Charmos, founder of the Charmotesian Beliefs, aka the Charmotesian Cult.   He said that blood and bile were the true sources of Wist, and that before Humanity became began to bleed their meat before eating, and not eating the stomach and organs, wist was not common in the air. He continued that before mages shed blood of their fellow man on the battlefield, Wist did not pool or knot, and couldn't form Wist storms.   He was mocked by the Mages and Scholars for his raving madness, and the baseless belief that blood and bile were the source of wist, and so he was shunned.   He refused to give up though, and spread his word starting from the most rural and tropical portions of Poille, and spreading outwards, eventually overtaking nearly the entire Frevilles belief system.   He is an old man, but he still speaks of The Bloody Mutt that will unleash its vengeance and armageddon on the mages, and millions listen and worship along.

Public Agenda

Destruction of the Wist accumulation structure, and the upheaval of Mage driven society.   The end of animal eating practices, with only ritual meals where every ounce is eaten allowed.

Mythology & Lore

In the beginning, blood was locked into the living beings, spilled only in conflict, and rarely in excess amounts. It cycled, from the mice, to the snakes, to the hounds, to the bears.   When bloodletting became standard practice for butchers, this chain was broken, and the spilled blood pooled and leaked its energy into the air. It became wist.   The antithesis to blood is water, and so wist would struggle to cross any water, unless many mages had died and polluted the river with their blood, creating a bridge for the wist to follow.   The storms became frequent, and spread far further, and it was the fault of the butchers and mages.   Only when no more blood is spilled will the world be safe, and magic will fade away once again.

Divine Origins

Lyon Charmos, a vegetarian and pacifist, who hated the Mages who lived and thrived off warfare, was fasting for a week, and contacted in a series of increasingly vivid dreams. A great hound with blood pouring from its mouth told him of the origin of wist, and ordered him to inform the world.   Then, when enough of the world, in great enough number and spread, had learned innocence and the tenets of good living, the wolf would come down and destroy all the remaining nonbelievers.   He had to spread the word, first deep, and then wide.

Cosmological Views

The fundamental cosmology and beliefs beyond the new tenets are that of the Frevilles Beliefs. Taught and studied by a series of elders and philosophers, it was an always changing ideology, with a few simple answers and tales that stayed central to the belief.   They said that the world was created by an all loving father and mother deity, who impregnated themself and birthed the world; the afterbirth pooled and swirled and became the lesser deities, many of which are still worshiped in other parts of the continent.

Tenets of Faith

Do not let blood spill in combat.   Do not let blood spill in eating.   Do not let blood spill in childbirth.   Do not let blood spill in death.

Newer Tenets!

Do not spill bile for power.   Do not shed blood for glory.

Ethics

If a man is dying of a mortal wound, collect his blood in a wooden bowl and have him drink it just before he passes. Do not bandage the wound, for the tainting of fabric with blood is one of the hardest to purify.   If an animal must be killed, a butcher of the faith will be tasked to kill it, and the entire animal must be consumed, even the organs and marrow.

Priesthood

The apostles of Lyon are very carefully selected by the man. He has very high standards for those who can interpret his word, and largely prefers to spread his literature across the faith.   In addition, special butchers have been trained by Lyon to properly prepare flesh to eat without spilling the blood.

Political Influence & Intrigue

Lyon has powerful sway with the rural population and smaller burgs, enough so that most counts follow his orders as much as they do the Arch-Magistrate. Recently he has pushed forward a mandate exiling the presence of nearly all Mages within Poille, and as such the College (And therefore Capital) is now technically in Ville Sensa.   Their is no easy way to get out of the reach of the upper echelons of the Cult. If you are rich or powerful, they will often find a way to get under your skin and get what they want.

Sects

The Mage's Severed Paw is an underground sect that deals in using magic against Mages that would seek to overthrow Lyon.

Not one drop of blood.
