Sky River of Quderatsoria

Hanging in the sky above the most frigid part of Cantumland, there is a shimmering river of blue green glow that dances beneath the stars. It is a holy site for many Besketian fishers, and has become a natural wonder that people travel to from across the world to marvel at.

Purpose / Function

It is a captured set of northern lights, visible in the night sky year round. It set itself into solid existence much as a normal river would, digging a clear path to follow in the wist field, becoming more stable over time.   A side effect of its existence means that the local area does not get any other form of northern lights, and instead they are mainly redirected to the other side of the continent, and on the far side of the northern pole. With little information coming from those areas, knowledge of their existence is near unheard of nowadays.   The spiritual connection to the Besket Gods has increased over time, as more story tellers are inspired by the beauty and tell tales of its origin, whether it be the scraps of a dress for the god of beauty, or the scales of a giant fish caught by the god of the sea. These stories seek to explain a murky origin to an important wonder to the culture.

Alterations

Over time it has been dimming, and will likely fade away by the year 4500. When this happens, the lights will burst out in one final light show that will cover the western coast.

History

The local area is not permanently settled by any people. It gets too cold, and the ice caps cut off any possible food supply to make it through the long winter. The few buildings in the area are only used in the warmer months, housing tourists and travellers.   Lalinia had known of the area for a long time, but the people of the state agreed in treaties with Habuda to give up the land beneath the sky river in exchange for shared access to the Fisher's Sea.

Tourism

The colours and patterns of the natural wonder have inspired many artists and art forms of the Besket Culture. Watercolour paintings made with a loose and flowing style sell well to those looking to capture the beauty on their walls.   When all is said and done, it is simply a pretty sight that has caught the eye of careful watchers time and time again. When the lights finally fade, the world may seem a little less magical. Something which once was a unique phenomenon in an inaccessible pocket of the world will once again reach down and coat the sky. The beauty may be lost for its being spread out. For now, it has been a shared wonder for 2000 years, and will be loved for 1000 years to come.
