Kobolds
A wistbeast with the same qualities of a dragon, i.e. a lust for wistmettle and an ability to manipulate wist. However Kobolds are a far weaker and more simple variety.
Their wistworking is crude, and lacks the ability to self modify. Their intelligence is far lower, often less than even a simple dog. Worst of all is that they still have the same dependancy for wistmettle, and so are frequently starved.
The line between smart kobold and stupid dragon is a blurred one, but the main differentiator is of social structure. Kobolds, even the simplest, will band together beneath a strong leader. Dragons are instead quite solitary, and do not ever share their hoard.
Kobolds are still quite dangerous when encountered in the field. Their ability to use wist and wisthread makes them capable of many of the same tactics mages use, as well as gives them experience in countering those same techniques.
In general, they are one of the least concerning varieties of wistbeast, and are usually simply avoided and left to starve.
Basic Information
Genetics and Reproduction
It is very rare for a Kobold to also be a Goblin, and thereby capable of reproduction. There is only one documented variety, the Fungal Imps found in the Kauuvatti lands.
Dietary Needs and Habits
They require wistmettle to provide the wist for their survival, though they can make do with simple hunting if they abstain from using their wist for long periods.

Do kobolds ever manage to fashion themselves into enough of a structure to establish a settlement? Especially with the twisted landscapes left in the wake of storms that'd be quite the things to deal with.
The greatest bands of Kobolds have made some rather complex and winding forts and caves in the land they control, and they keep their hoard at the very end of this 'dungeon'.
