However, the enchantment has degraded over the centuries. When you attack a creature with this magic weapon and roll a 1 on the attack roll, you take 10 points of necrotic damage. This damage can be regained only through a short or long rest, rather than by regeneration, magic, or any other means.
Curse. This item is cursed. Attuning to it curses you until you are targeted by a remove curse spell or similar magic. As long as you remain cursed, you will suffer the negative effects of rolling a 1 on any melee weapon attack roll, even with other weapons, and even if you have discarded the cursed weapon.
