The closest beings to physical gods in the world of Nohl are the Beasts Eternal, a collection of magnificent and awesome creatures spread across the continents who bless and protect the land. Each Beast has its own range which does not overlap another. Originally, every inhabitable area in the world was guarded by one of these beings. It is said that the Beasts were Rothos and Signus' final act of creation before they turned their faces away from the land of Nohl. They allowed their creativity to flourish as they had not up until that point, and created the most dazzling beasts imaginable to watch over their land and keep the sentient races in line by teaching them their most cherished ideals. The Beasts are able to bestow primal magic upon individuals who seek it in the form of a blessing. These blessing rituals look different for each Beast. Those who receive the blessing are capable of becoming powerful druids and rangers so long as they continue to uphold the ideal each Beast Eternal represents and periodically return to the Beast's home region to pay homage and meditate there. The Beasts Eternal are immortal but not invincible, meaning they will live forever but only if allowed to do so. Many Beasts Eternal have been killed over the centuries either by those who fear their magic or those who think they can take it by force for themselves. In particular, The Fervent Congregation has sought to eliminate the Beasts, claiming their magical blessings create division and an unnecessary power imbalance among the people of Nohl. If a Beast dies, those who received their blessings can continue to utilize their primal magic, but their power will gradually diminish over the next few years until totally spent.
