Vampires!   They exist.   In this modern era it's getting harder and harder for their kind to survive undetected. Their numbers thin, they are forced ever deeper into hiding in abandoned places or untamed wilds, enforcing strict regulations over every part of their undead lives all in the name of secrecy. And absolutely NO further human-to-vampire conversions. Except in extenuating circumstances, whatever those may be (no one is entirely clear on this point).   The few who manage to scrape out an existence hiding in plain sight among humans are both envied and feared, as they are considered to be the greatest threat to vampire civilization.   It probably won't be long before they're all wiped out, either consumed from within by their own society or attacked by an outside force. Good news for humanity! But... when did anyone ask the vampires what they wanted?
