Mechaniquill

The mechaniquill is a writing tool invented by Gil Fengella, an individual belonging to the Kedi race that come from Celladara in the Northeast district of Nithira. This tool was designed with the many different forms of species that evolved over the years, who all have various needs and accommodations when it comes to how they use and hold a writing tool. Kedi are evolved and mutated from the species once known as Felidae. They are an exceptionally intelligent species, Gil being only 18 years of age themselves when they designed the concept for the mechaniquill. Gil being a part of the Kedi race, has large feline like paws with retractable claws. This hindered their ability to write in a sufficient way, especially considering Gil was studying history as the Independence Academy (a highly respected school for gifted and intelligent younglings throughout Nithira). They began researching all sorts of tools used in historical times and learned about the quill. The strangeness of using a hollow feather filled with ink, surprisingly gave Gil an idea. A hollow tool filled with bots that morph and transform into any desired shape or design to fit the user’s extremity no matter what shape or size it may be.

Significance

Due to the vast difference in species, demand for a universally accessible tool was ever present. The mechaniquill is a small device that changes, comprised of thousands of small nanobot like technology that move and adapt to the users input of needs. The significance of this advancement was huge! Many beings all throughout Nithira were struggling with illiteracy and the inability to communicate via the written word (an ancient desire that has definitely not diminished).

Rarity

The nanobot technology within the Mechaniquill is extremely rare, and costly. After Gil proposed the idea to a manufacturing company, they were taken on immediately and production began. The core of the bots is preferably made from rhodium, a rare non-radioactive metal that is resistant to corrosion, a perfect fit for the needs of this tool. However, as rhodium is so rare that platinum is the more common metal used to create the bots with rhodium being used for exclusive and much more expensive versions of the mechaniquill.
