Nithira

Rising sea levels have swallowed almost 45% of the land, radiation has poisoned the water and air, mass pollution and environmental destruction has now spread to every corner of the once beautiful and abundant planet.

Humanity was always known for their ability to adapt and prevail through all kinds of circumstances, but when the Earth began to die and rot because of them, all the leaders came together to declare a worldwide state of emergency and in the year 2324, humanity evacuated up into the clouds on enormous floating mechanical islands, travelling exclusively by air. The Earth below uninhabitable and dangerous for humans.

The result of all these changes caused most biological life that remained below; plant matter and animals, to metamorphose resulting in the emergence of brand new species. The emergence of the new dominant species.

Carnivorous animals with sharp teeth and claws, primates with the ability to think and problem solve, poisonous insects and the huge abundance of diversity under the sea, they all began to mutate in ways that humanity feared. So a great divide was created among the land and the sky.

The leaders of this new sky continent swore an oath of secrecy and decided not to tell anyone of the changes that happened below, pumping fear and propaganda into everyone to stay where it is safe, to stay obedient.

Fast forward 500 years later, life on Earth looks more like an alien planet than it ever has in its lifetime. Most inhabitants over populating what little land there is left, creating a new continent named Nithira.

With humanity above, the old ways of life fading into whispers and myths of a cautionary tale, the planet is completely divided.
