Fire Phoenix
As I called for it by name,
there it was in a burst of flame.
A creature born of magic fire,
here to help in a time most dire.
And as the sun went down that day,
my familiar was here to stay.

Anatomy
Like a fiery eagle, fire phoenixes are elegant birds of prey, with two flaming red wings and a brilliant orange tail.
Genetics and Reproduction
Fire Phoenix lay a single egg each year, which is incubated by the parents for a period of 3 weeks. Once the chick hatches, it is a red for by the parents until adulthood, when it disappears in a burst of fire to find a nest of its own.

Fire phoenixes are most often found in mountainsides and canyons.

Fire phoenixes are carnivores, hunting small prey such as mice and lizards.
