Shapeshifter

Shapeshifters are ancient creatures that span over 4,000 years of history in Xadia. There isn't much known about their species other than their abilities and general location, with most of their nature stemming from mysterious, unknown magic that could easily be Star magic. While they stay hidden from sight, shapeshifters are playful pranksters that cause chaos and potential destruction with whatever prank they pull.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The shapeshifters are bipedal beings that contain two arms. Their skeletal structure matches that of a human, with their hands containing five fingers instead of four, like an elf. Their facial structure has horns growing out of the back of their skull with sharp, hooked teeth matching that of an insectoid. They also have three spiked tails that can be used as a weapon.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Shapeshifters are said to live in the Uncharted Forest, but their main location is the Jagged Grove within said forest, where they hide among the trees and protect the rose bushes with their lives. Any unknown being who enters their grove without consent.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Shapeshifters can change their body to appear as anything they like. Below are some of their abilities.   Form creation: They can transform by instantly creating a new body for themself, and disintegrating the old one. All of their various powers stem from this one.   Regeneration: They can instantly create a new body that has healed any injury that has occurred to the previous one. They do this instinctively, and can even do this while missing important limbs, including their head. Their regeneration seems to come with some level of pain inhibition, where they doesn't feel pain at all, at least for "minor" wounds (like being shot with an arrow), but they can fake the feeling of pain to varying degrees of success.   Immortality: Since they can seemingly endlessly create new cells, they are seemingly immortal.   Humanoid shape shifting: They can transform into any person, real or made up. They have any abilities or alterations they might possess, such as a mechanical arm. Nimona seemingly notes that shapeshifting into made-up people is harder, or possibly that shapeshifting into people is harder, but given her regular transformation into people who exist (e.g., her younger self, Ballister, guards), and her rule against shapeshifting into made-up animals, it's likely she meant that shapeshifting into made up people is harder.   Animal shapeshifting: Nimona can shapeshift into any creature that has existed in some point in time. This includes dragons, dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals, and various monsters. She cannot shapeshift into made-up animals.   Size Variation: They can change their size on a whim.   Partial transformation/power usage: They can alter their human form to exhibit non-human abilities. An example of this is suddenly having huge arms, breathing fire, or being able to shoot spikes.   Extreme stamina/unlimited energy: They can access a seemingly unlimited supply of magic energy from another plane, which they use to shapeshift. The act doesn't appear to tire them: only grievous injuries do.   Form Splitting: They can split themself into two bodies, with one of them being their main self, and the other being a form that is driven by whatever emotion they were feeling when they split. However, they try not to do this, as it makes it possible that one of their forms might disintegrate.
