The Blessed Dead

The Blessed Dead's legend rarely needs introduction. This is especially true in Kalin, but even in the lands beyond they're well known, even if by different names.   The Blessed Dead are the heroes responsible for the saving of the world as anyone knows it. It was they who rallied the people of the world against the dark forces of The Return, and sacrificed their mortal forms to do so.    The group was made up of the Tortle LimKin, the Halfling Berry Ferry, the Changeling Alkis, the Half-High Elf Celadrien Hilliard, and the High Elf Valmir Rothenel. While he was not an official member of the group, Panikos Cosmalis is also often grouped in with the group due to his supporting role during the groups quest.    On top of saving the world, the groups accomplishments during their time of activity are immense, and nearly uncountable, with many assumed to have been lost to history. A non-exhaustive list includes:
  • Savings hundreds during the collapse of the Schola Magus, and leading an escape back to the surface by facing the Dark Drow while out numbered.
  • Saving several people of import, including Gareth Pancem and Tutiro Cam (future founders of the Federated Union of Eastern Kalin ) during the Fall of Atresa.
  • Helping fight off an assault on Virnos by the Ordicus Technomantis, with Valmir giving his life to save the city from a possibly city destroying arcane generator accident.
  • Aiding Tharrisian and Idiomaris forces in driving off an undead army from the Tomb of the Eternal Queen.
  • Fought off an Ithali air raid on Atresan territory.
  • Defended Starmont from an invasion of The Return and stood against the embodiments of the darkness beyond, though they died valiantly in the effort.
  • Returned from the dead, apparently having aided Morpulcar in stopping the dead from rising further.
  • Coordinated the nations of Kalin in a response to both the Ithali-Kalin War and the Return itself.
  • Saved Xune from the clutches of the Dark Drow during their assault on Lyath'Or.
  • Saved the Dwarven city of Hells Gate from a Dark Drow invasion.
  • Defeated Thoramir of Virnos after he activated his strange colossus that destroyed Ithalin, with Valmir in specific defeating the colossus on the spiritual realm.
  • Saved the people of Heldir as the city fell into the sea by creating a truce between Ithalin and the continent.
  • Gathered the aid of the gods themselves to defeat the Return.
  • Led the combined armies of the world against The Return at the apocalyptical Fall of the Return, defeating the terrifying Reaper of Souls and saving all of reality.
And this is a non-exhaustive list.   Following the Return, most of the members of the Blessed Dead underwent a form of what is thought to be ascension. Valmir ascended to join Padnora as the Father Knowledge, Celadrien joined Idiomar as the Daughter of Fire and Fury, and Alkis joined Imathi as the Son of Change and Shadow.   LimKin fell during the confrontation with the Reaper of Souls, but became reverred in their own right as a Saint in many religions. Berry Ferry vanished from historical record, with many theories persisting as to his final destination.    The Blessed Dead remain idolized and worshipped, both as their mortal selves and their ascended selves.

Disbandment

LimKin fell during the Fall of the Return, while Berry Ferry vanished into Legend. The other ascended to take their place beside their patron gods.

Sects

Many smaller sects and cults exist to this day, worshipping the Blessed Dead as a whole, as well as members individually.
