D

Surface Info:

Physical description: D is a short skeletoid with yellow eyes. 90% of the time they wear soft, pajama-like green clothes, accompanied with a yellow scarf, two fingerless yellow gloves, and an anklet. The latter items are adorned with alchemical symbols.   Vocal Quirks: Alternates between speaking in a wishy-washy, overly apologetic manner and more passive-aggressive techniques such as muttering about someone’s half-baked plan under their breath, or subtly snarking about how “what could possibly go wrong”. Whenever D does feel that they can be more direct, they almost revel in the opportunity. Normally soft-spoken. Often uses the phrase "Fuck my life".
Tics: Apologizes excessively, even when it isn’t their fault;   Communication Style: D usually speaks very passively, but lately they've started getting more passive aggressive.   Overview: Upon first meeting them, one of the first things you’d notice about D is how they try almost too hard to be nice; They are indeed pleasant company, it’s just that there’s something a little off about how far they are willing to go to gain a stranger’s approval — although somehow they don’t go so far as to be without an opinion of their own. The other major trait you’d notice is their major pessimistic streak: D sees that every rose has its thorns, but extends that to everything with flowers. It is easy to tell that D fundamentally doubts they can change anything.   Relatives: Lanny Yard, Quetzalcoatl, Nightmare
Notable Associates: Camelia "Quill" Flores,   Approximate Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Age: Unknown
Birthday: December 21
Legal Name: Dream Walker

Beneath the Surface

Backstory (Major events): A *long* time ago, D made a deal with an eldritch abomination which backfired on them. This lead to Nightmare hating them, Lanny looking up from “a perfectly normal archive crawl” to find "Dream trying to take over the world, Nightmare murdering their way across the continent, and a distinct lack of context”, and a DECADES long snafu before anyone else realized what had happened. They blame themselves for these events, especially since “fixing” these events resulted in Nightmare’s disappearance. Since then they've been keeping a low profile for the most part, although it's hard when you're living with a mad scientist with no concept of subtlety.   Ideals: D, above all else, wants to be able to believe they are a good person. They associate this ideal with being pleasant company, assisting others, and being low maintenance.
Strengths: D is a skilled host, which comes naturally for them due to their abilities as an empath; they have used these skills to convince others to let Lanny off the hook after she gets in trouble, which happens quite often (likely due to the aforementioned aunt being a mad scientist with no concept of subtlety). Additionally, they are very knowledgeable about how magic works out of necessity: D's magic is best described with the phrase "Stupid jackass patron making me roll on the wild magic table", and being able to demand something very specific is basically required for them to do anything useful.
Flaws: The belief that there's nothing that can be done is one that permeates D's life -- They are very prone to giving up before they've begun, accepting what is without actually trying to change it. Additionally they have a really hard time establishing boundaries.
Jungian Shadow: D’s shadow consists of an awareness that they are more than capable of putting an end to (most of) the shit that surrounds them if they so choose, and an intense frustration at having to put up with the aforementioned shit. They deny these traits quite strongly.   Enneagram Type: 2
Central Paradox: Selfish Selflessness
Archetype: The "nice guy"
Homestuck Classpect: Prince of Life
Soul: D's soul is overgrown with thorny plants.
