The Founders

Overview

1,000 years ago, a group of powerful warriors saved people from a great cataclysm, shielding them within the valley later called Sanctum Hollow. This terrible event left the rest of the world a barren wasteland, full of monsters and death.
The five warriors who shielded the valley from disaster and later established their own clans are referred to as “The Five Revered Founders”, “The Five Founders”, or simply “The Founders”. A statue or similar display of them can be found in every village, often displaying a tableau of four armed humanoids backed by a serpentine dragon.
They were laid to rest near the site where they are said to have protected the valley. Their burial site is “The Founders’ Vault”, near The Drake Mount, protected by The Radiant Dragon School.

On the Clan Founders

Bear Clan - Gom T'an Sung-Won
The Bear Clan Founder was a large human man, a Sizer who specialized in unarmed combat with a trademark golden glow about his hands. Due to his affinity for fire and metal essence, he was also said to be an excellent craftsman and miner with a gift for finding mineral veins.
Wolf Clan - Okami Ito Tsuki
The Wolf Clan Founder was tall, wiry young shifter, a Pirn who wielded a longsword in battle but could also shapeshift. Some say that he could also speak to beasts, and called upon them in times of need. Perhaps an ancient promise is the reason packs of wolves protect The Moonwood.
Dragon Clan - Long Fu Yang
The Dragon Clan Founder was a silver-scaled dragon, the last her kind. She could take humanoid form and was a Fabricator would created constructs of light to both attack and defend. Her last gift before her death was the permanent nimbus of light atop The Drake Mount, and some believe that within it her spirit lives on to protect the valley, her light holding the darkness at bay.
Crane Clan - Tsuru Wen Bingwen
The Crane Clan Founder was an aasimar Reed whose affinity for wind essence allowed him to command the might of storms in battle. When he went on to found his clan, he trained an apprentice to take over for him when he was gone. However, later in life, he and the apprentice had a falling out; the apprentice left the clan and was never seen again, leading to a period of turmoil within the Crane Clan.
Kirin Clan - Lin Son Simla
The Kirin Clan Founder was a water genasi with a spiral-shaped horn set in her forehead. She may have been descended from kirin or dragons, as parts of her body were covered in golden scales. She was a powerful Reed who fought with a magical staff said to bend water to her command. It was said her presence purified the water which she could also walk upon. Unlike the other Founders, she did not live long enough to establish a school based on her techniques; she died of an unknown malady not long after the Cataclysm. Some of the stories say that her death and the crater that later became The Tranquil Basin are related.

Founders' Blessing Festival

During this festival the inhabitants of Sanctum Hollow gather by The Founders' Vault by the Drake Mount for this festival of peace, setting aside differences to commemorate their saviors.
As it was exactly 1,000 years ago, this is sure to be a special celebration.
