Stone Edge

Stone Edge is the largest mountain on the main continent, but its significance is not limited to its size. It also stands as a testament to the catastrophic power of sudden planar shifts: the mountain arose near-instantaneously from a flat meadow roughly 1,000 years ago, obliterating a city in the process.   Stone Edge is the focal point of an outsized presence of the elemental plane. Its earthy mass is also filled with pockets of other elemental energies, such as pools of lava, springs of water, and unmelting glaciers. This elemental influence also causes a large proportion of nearby humanoids to be born as tieflings and dwarves.   Despite its tragic origin, Stone Edge has come to be an important location. The mountain produces diamonds and other gems useful as spell components, and such materials mined from it tend to have exceptional potency. As a result, a thriving mining town is established on the side of the mountain despite the dangers, and has a symbiotic relationship with agricultural settlements in the surrounding area.
