The Smoldering Abyss

The Smoldering Abyss is an undersea trench that marks the deepest part of the Black Loch. Named for the hydrothermal vents that pocket its bottom, the existance of the trench is known to very few of the Loch's residents. Unknown to any is the fact that the Smoldering Abyss is the birthplace of the kuo-toa on Nexus and houses the tombs of their ancient kings, those who ruled long before their people were ever forced to serve the Mind Flayer Empire. But something else lurks within the depths of the Smoldering Abyss, something unseen for many centuries that the legends of the Black Loch falsely claim is dead and gone. Should any disturb this place, they run the risk of disturbing that which slumbers here.
