Antonio J Rossi (a.k.a. Anton)
In the year 1411, a recent guild school graduate named Anton decided he wanted to see the world before settling down into the mundanity of an office job. So he gathered his money, packed his things, and set off with his best friend, taking the
high speed rail all the way out to historic First District.
Where, upon disembarking, he stumbled, falling fifteen feet to the pavement below, and died almost instantly.
But Anton wasn't willing to let something as trivial as a broken skull cut short his trip. Or maybe he got lost on his way to the void of the afterlife. Either way, he continues his roaming across the world, often stopping someone to ask for directions or ask if they've seen his friend (who died almost a century ago now), or falling in love with a random sales clerk. When New Z'hratians find spirit orbs in their vacation photographs, they generally tend to assume it's the Eternal Tourist taking in the sights with them.
Mental characteristics
Anton's early life was a fairly standard one: he was born to two middle-class parents from different guilds who wanted the best for their son. He was a decent student and an extrovert who made plenty of friends. He met Richard, one of the neighbor kids, after Richard helped him when he got lost on his first day of Basic school. They became best friends, and would remain so until Richard's death in Year 2 NZE.
Since gardening was his favorite hobby when it was time to submit guild applications, he chose to work in the
Greensoul's Agricultural Development Department, and got accepted shortly before his fatal accident.
The Transit Alliance's legal and financial liability for his death was one of the last straws for the original high speed rail system, which shut down just over a year later.
Anton never gave much thought to his gender.
Anton has had many intense, but short-lived, crushes on women throughout his life and afterlife, although his relationships never progress past the first or second date.
Death hasn't changed this much, so the attraction is more than just sexual. He's a sweet guy, but if he doesn't get the hint, the crush might need to threaten to call an exorcist. He'll cry. It'll be awkward.
- Graduated Basic school- 1408
- Graduated Guild school with the Greensoul- 1410
- Completed apprenticeship with the Greensoul's Agricultural Development Department- 1411
- Curious, driven to travel and meet new people.
- Gets lost extremely easily, frequently stopping someone to ask for directions.
- Perfectionist, and he takes his failures and bad luck extremely personally. This typically makes him freeze up when selecting a long-term goal, or procrastinate when pursuing one. Or, most noticeably, he comes across as depressed when he asks for directions.
- He doesn't do well when he's alone, emotionally or otherwise. Richard always described him as "clingy."
Anton believes in exploring, seeing the sights and meeting new people, living life to the fullest now that money is no object. He's not entirely sure how he's going to tell his boss what happened, but he's okay with putting that off for another century or five, if he isn't already fired for ghosting her (pun intended).
Given the title and the tone of the first paragraph I sort of expected this to end with a death. I was most definitely not ready for THAT sentence though. This was fun to read.
Thanks, I'm glad you like it! I've always loved the thought of friendly ghosts still doing their own little thing.
