Banshee
While Ghosts are no doubt terrifying, there is but one type of Spectre that will literally strike fear in the heart of all that they hunt. The banshee calls for impending doom and, when they come for you, it will no doubt be the last call you hear.
How the banshee targets their victims is mostly unknown. They may just be random figures that they full an urge to hunt, or people that have done them wrong, or even descendants of those that hurt them. It seems to differ from banshee to banshee, though their form is always the same. Female in appearance, their spectral form is tall and gaunt, with flowing blood coloured hair against pure white skin and clothing, their face broken into an ever present scream that flows from their maw.
When the banshee goes out to hunt it's victim, they will let out a haunting scream – giving their victim a few moments notice. They will then hunt their victim through the gloom of night, constantly chasing and screaming after their prey. Should a victim make it to daylight, the banshee will halt it's attack until night returns – the hunt continuing. Once it catches them, it savages and rips their victim apart until they are satisfied in some capacity.
While it does not discriminate in who or what they haunt, female victims of the banshee will often rise again from the grave as a banshee and join them in their hunts. This can mean that banshee's will form hunting groups, sometimes reaching as much as a dozen banshee's before they are eventually dealt with.
Death by Banshee is also not the only way for new banshee's to be created. It is said that a banshee can be created when a woman is killed in utterly violent methods, and thus causing it to rise from the dead.
Taking down a banshee is no easy feat, requiring a weapon of pure silver to strike the killing blow against them. It must be pure silver too, for while silver can generally hurt a spectre, only pure silver has any hopes of ending a banshee's haunt for good.
