Nexus Crystal

Nexus Crystals are natural formations in areas of great magical energy and strong connection to the Glow, the most common location being the planet of Lucian. They pulse with energy that can harnessed by sorcerers to power their spells, or more importantly by technology to power weapons, armour, ships, or entire city infrastructures. This energy is almost unlimited, as the crystal acts as a conduit for power directly from the Glow. It therefore can only be disrupted by anti-magic devices or Rift energy.
Nexus Crystals have powered most of the galaxy's technology since the Convergence Wars as primitive versions were made and supplied by the Fey species. The new Coalition produces the vast majority of them and uses it to power nearly all their technology, whereas the Galactic Systems Union has recently converted the majority of it's energy to pinch fusion.

Discovery

Upon the formation of the Invictus Coalition, the fractured high-energy planet of Lucian was occupied and studied by Nightblood scientists, who shortly discovered the energy potential of the planet's crystal formations. At first though it was disregarded, but only until the Dawn made magic a rare energy. After the Dawn the Coalition funded the construction of six mega-cities and countless foundries and factories, all with the goal of mass producing Nexus Crystals that could continue to fuel their magic-technology.
