United Liberation Alliance
The United Liberation Alliance (ULA) is the oldest surviving insurrectionist group in human space. While the exact date of origin is unknown, they are known to have begun operation at least a century prior to the Human-Triumvirate war in the early 2500s. At the time they were one of several other insurrectionist factions, all of whom opposed the United Earth Government’s overarching rule over all human colonies in favour of a more independent government.
The ULA has undergone several changes in both administration and core objectives over the past two centuries. Their activities significantly declined during the invasion of the Triumvirate. The alien threat’s unstoppable advance into human territory resulted in planet after planet being razed to glass and the deaths of billions of human lives. In such dire circumstances, many Insurrectionist factions had been destroyed and those that survived, such as the ULA, momentarily put their differences with the UEG aside to fight the larger threat.
After the war was won, the ULA began the long process of rebuilding itself over the following decades. It stood firmly against the creation of the GSU and later, its successor - the Terran Empire. Although the ULA was briefly disbanded following the Empire’s apparent collapse, many of its core members remained active, convinced that the Empire hadn’t truly fallen but had instead retreated into the shadows. Their suspicions were confirmed when Lord Admiral Orson Marcellus spearheaded the formation of the Second GSU following the Xarqiin Invasion. The suspiciously quick reformation of the GSU was thanks to a number of worlds which had already joined Marcellus’s clandestine pact - evidence enough to the ULA that the Terran Empire had never truly disbanded.
In its current form, the ULA represents an alliance of over a dozen different rebel groups from different outer colonies which have banded together to stand against the GSU. They oppose Terra as the Union’s primary military authority and campaign for the complete and utter independence of their outer colony worlds while also trying to usurp the leadership of said worlds who are loyal to the Union.
The ULA’s central base of operations is the Bastion - a space station consisting of multiple different asteroids joined together by a network of tubes. The Bastion is located on the outer fringes of GSU territory, which borders the territory of the Frontier Confederacy. Consequently, the Confederacy unofficially endorses the ULA by secretly supplying them resources to continue their war against the Union.
Sons of the Reich
The Sons of the Reich are an organisation founded on the principles of human supremacy over all other supernatural species. In this way, they take after the historical faction Inquisitional Reich, the name suggesting that they see themselves as their rightful successors. Although it is likely that surviving members of the Inquisitional Reich had a hand in the initial creation of this group, it is ultimately not confirmed. As it currently stands, the Sons of the Reich operate on multiple worlds across GSU territory.
Officially, they have been labelled a terrorist organisation and all members have a shoot-to-kill order placed on them, although operations have been conducted by law enforcement and military personnel to capture key players in the organisation. Their modus operandi is to commit acts of terror against major population centres - particularly noted for their higher supernatural species concentration - with the general aim of genocide.
It is acknowledged that numerous factions exist within this organisation. The mainstream target supernaturals only however a more extreme group target aliens as well. The overall goal of the Sons of the Reich is to force the GSU administration to cast out all supernaturals from its territory, either through exile or outright genocide. Some groups even seek to usurp the GSU leadership in order to fulfil this mission.
