Varu
God of Destruction
Cosmic Annihilation
While most gods are known for what they create, one is known exclusively for his ability to destroy. Varu is known as the Destroyer, a deity created alongside Astreah, both were tasked with upholding balance and harmony in the cosmos. Varu does this through his destructive capabilities, wiping away nations, planets, and galaxies with the snap of his finger. He does not annihilate out of malice nor for a long-term goal, but merely because it was the purpose he was created for and it is his unique form of order. While other gods create, he destroys, maintaining the balance set forth by Bai. Varu is an oft-forgotten god, technically part of The Celestial Order but rarely given recognition, let alone worship. While his disposition is relaxed and even lazy, he is known to have a wicked temper for those who annoy him or interrupt his naps which may extend for hundreds if not thousands of years. Ancient writings describe him as sphinx-like, which has caused artists and sages to depict him either as a bidpedal sphinx cat or a sphinx as in the celestial creature of wisdom. Other than feline forms, he has also been depicted in avian and draconic forms, though, perhaps strangely, never in a human or elven form. The Destroyer's Court
One of the more tranquil realms of the divines, the Destroyer's Court is the heavenly realm of Varu. It is a plane of gardens, shimmering lakes, and charming rolling hills where the Destroyer spends most of his time. He strolls the grounds, tends to the gardens, and slumbers whenever he can. Varu's time here is complimented by delicious food gathered from all corners of creation. He spends time alone mostly, save for his servants assigned to him by The Ten Divines to keep him occupied. The Destroyer's Court represents the contradictory paradox of Varu, the harmony of pure destruction and tranquil, cultivated comfort all coexisting within the same deity.Divine Domains

Artifacts
Ruin's Edge
A fearsome blade created by Basorus upon request from Varu. The serrated, double-edged sword is infused with the raw destructive prowess of the Destroyer. While it is frighteningly powerful on its own, it can also send forth arcing shockwaves of pure annihilation which vaporize anything that makes contact.Oblivion's Embrace
An enigmatic amulet, the divine trinket protects the user with an illusory shield of negative energy which flat out negates oncoming attacks. The amulet is also said to drive the user to a place of unimaginable rage and hatred. It has been lost for centuries, having last been possessed by the famously paranoid High King Magnus II who clung to it as his son's forces closed in on his castle, having defeated him in a war of usurpation. While it saved him from the volley of arrows, it did not save him from his own self-loathing as he jumped from the castle's balcony. After this, reports differ on the final destination of Oblivion's Embrace.Sundering Gauntlets
These mighty gaunlets, made of gold and decorated with shining rubies and crystals from the Destroyer's Court are said to have been worn by Varu himself. The Sundering Gauntlets empower the physical strikes of the user to such a degree that a single punch could easily smash through any structure, including constructs, destroying anything in their path. While they dramatically amplify the power of the wielder, they also cause them immense pain, crushing their bones in the process.Divine Symbols & Sigils
Ouroboros, the serpent consuming itself, the sun enveloped in darkness
Social
Social Aptitude
When interacting with others, Varu tends to exhibit a sense of detachment and superiority. He has little interest in the comings and goings of other entities, unless they amuse or entertain him. He is easily bored and may dismiss someone from his realm if they interrupt his slumber or fail to amuse him. Among gods, he remains stoic and respectful. When dealing with mortals, some who possess profound wisdom or strength, might incur some acknowledgment from the destroyer, perhaps even a modicum of respect. For reasons never quite illuminated, he has an unexplained hatred of dragons and refuses to socialize with them at all.
