Tathos

God of the Cycle of Life and Death

Tathos, also known as the Saint of Sorrow, is a figure of profound compassion and understanding towards the mortal existence. He embodies the natural order of life and death, overseeing the delicate balance between creation and transition. In his true form, Tathos appears as an ethereal being, radiating a serene and comforting aura. He is often depicted in two distinct forms, each reflecting a different aspect of his divine nature.   In one depiction, Tathos is portrayed as a skeletal figure, draped in flowing robes of twilight hues. His skeletal form represents the inevitable transformation that awaits all living beings, emphasizing the ephemeral nature of existence. He guides souls on their final journey with a gentle touch and a compassionate gaze, comforting them in their passage from the mortal realm to the ethereal planes beyond.   In another form, Tathos takes the appearance of an elderly man with a long white beard and flowing hair, carrying a wooden staff that symbolizes his authority over the cycle of life and death. This depiction embodies his role as a consoler of the grieving and a bringer of solace to those touched by loss. His wise and understanding eyes reflect the depths of his empathy, as he offers words of comfort and support to those who mourn.   Tathos's demeanor is serene and patient, emanating a tranquil presence that brings solace to the sorrowful. He carries the weight of mortal suffering within him, understanding every life's intrinsic value and significance. His immense empathy for mortals and their finite existence drives his abhorrence for the perversion of death, particularly the creation of undead creatures and the exploitation of the deceased by dark mages. Tathos sees such acts as a violation of the natural order and opposes those who tamper with the delicate balance of life and death, especially necromancers and even those who revive the dead with fair intentions.   As the god of the cycle of life and death, Tathos serves as a guiding light for mortals, reminding them of the inherent beauty and transience of their existence. His presence brings comfort to those facing loss and provides reassurance that their souls will find peace in the afterlife. Tathos's wisdom, compassion, and reverence for the natural order make him a revered figure among those who embrace the cycle of life and the inevitability of death.

The Day of Remembrance serves as a reminder of the impermanence of life and the importance of cherishing the memories of those who have passed on.

Holy Harvest

Celebrated during the autumn season, the Holy Harvest marks the time when the cycle of life transitions into the cycle of death. Communities come together to harvest crops and collect offerings of fruits and vegetables, symbolizing the abundance and bounty that sustain life. These offerings are then shared with the less fortunate, emphasizing the interconnectedness of life and the importance of caring for one another.

Soulfast

Soulfast is a day of fasting and reflection observed by devotees of Tathos. On this day, individuals voluntarily abstain from food and drink as a symbolic act of aligning themselves with the natural rhythm of life and death.
