Meniphanaea

Goddess of Law and Wisdom

"Heronis, for your crime of theft regarding Xerxes' sweet roll, I sentence you to fifteen years of making sweet rolls for the celestials."   Meniphanaea is the Goddess of Law and Wisdom, she is the patron of judges, statesmen, and scribes. She is often depicted as a woman carrying a sword in one hand and a scale in the other, standing as a cultural beacon of civility, especially in Ayrith where she is considered the national saint. Among common folk, she enjoys modest popularity but she mainly holds sway over devotees of more educated stock. There are often statues of her found outside courts or in city squares. She does not have a realm of her own, rather, she resides in the Astral Hub with Agathos in a section known as the Astral Tribunal where she presides over disputes among the divines, often giving out creative punishments.

Holy Books & Codes

The Codex of the Seraphs is a text that covers many subjects including economics, statecraft, law, civics, and constitutional rights. It was written by the Meniphanaea's oracle Salarach through divine inspiration from the Goddess of Law and Wisdom. It is used unofficially as a sort of ideal of how a state and its society ought to be managed, especially in Ayrith. One diplomat might invoke the text to support a point in a public forum.
