Morlis

A village home to nearly 1000 terrans, elves, and dwarves, the occasional gnome or beast kin family, getting only a few outsiders passing through a month. Morlis is home to a renowned Afrea blacksmith, Gerst, that fled after freeing some terran and beastkin slaves that had been delivering most of his raw materials. The only two permanently established storefronts are "Morlin's" a resuraunt/inn/grocery/household supplies distributer. They buy most of the food products from farmers and hunters, their only competition being locals buying directly. The current owner, Ashe , isn't overly kind to outsiders but won't cause trouble if she gets paid, since her dad got drafted after not being able to pay his business owner service exemption. The other is Gerst's workshop, open to any who can afford his precious time. There is a travelling terran salesman, Barnes, who occasionally passes through town and sells more exotic equipment out of a large wooden case he has his golem, Rock, carry on his back. While often this is some technical components, useless on their own, or a disposable handgun, he occasionally carries something exciting, like a blueprint, runic ink, or some orichalcum. Most of the population grows crops or keeps animals, and many do simple craft work, with most skilled professionals moving to larger towns and cities to sell their goods to more than their neighbors and Morlin's. Being so close to the border of the dead bridge, there is never a shortage of volunteers to keep Lord Audrey's forces dense enough to protect them from nonhuman attacks. Although, being far enough away that the town lacks its own dedicated fort or even a watch, beyond a few guards to deal with petty crimes. There are plans to build a new forward outpost near Morlis that may become a well developed fort should the support and resources be plenty.     The Morlis military storehouse was broken into, and is now missing lumber, shields, blades, and armor being stored for shipment to the dead continent, as well as a high quality switchsword intended to be a reward for a decorated officer fighting on the dead continent, one of Major Urzak's captains. As he rarely returns, and shipments from the homeland are infrequent at best, he isn't missing it just yet. Some local ratfolk may be responsible, which worries a local terran couple who's been raising a ratfolk orphan. Since this isn't the first problem nearby ratfolk have caused as of late, the situation has gained the attention of the region's representative, and for the time being, ruler, Cil Audrey. With pressure from above, the local lord, Dalfis is anxious to show some results. Luckily for him, there have been more specific reports of a nearby nest that could be fruitful. Maybe if he can just find the captain's sword, he can talk his way out of this. He can't think of any way someone could find out he leaked the info while out drinking with a Glaan researcher. Is there even any connection?
