Asteria

Magic is law Asteria is a city built by its worship of magic. Its original founders were powerful mages and wizards, and their beliefs and traditions have been passed down through the ages. The council, the leaders of Asteria, spend most of their money funding businesses that research magic, which is in every part of Asteria, from common civilian use to military might. There are ancient wards that are standing tall throughout the capitol city to control spellcasting and have ancient magic devices that power the kingdoms day to day operations.
Jobs and political sway Due to the Councils favor in magic, most businesses that can help the kingdoms research or use magic in its processes of production end up gaining the councils endorsement and the people’s popularity. Because of this, there is a flip in status to most jobs in Asteria, where blue collar and production job end up gaining noble level political sway, where city management jobs end up being treated as grunt work. The exception being only the council, and their champion.
War campaign The Council are a group of mysterious individuals. They mask their identity, but they are known to be rather powerful magic users and incredibly wise in their shrouded ways. Most people of Asteria believe the council to have their best interest in mind, however, outsiders and other leaders of the world feel weary of this hidden group of individuals. Especially when they have made many aggressive decisions in the past. This is where their champion comes into play. The council recruits a powerful figure known as the champion of Asteria. This champion serves multiple purposes, working as a military leader, a connecter from the council to the people and vice versa, a leader for the city planners, and a face for the kingdom. They essentially work as proxy kings for the city, gaining massive popularity, riches, and some political sway of their own, even against the council (though situations like this are rare and usually short lived). The current Champion is Peirce Lamont, whose leadership is highly regarded in current day Asteria. He may be following the Councils orders to push this war with Dreilor Nox, but his insistence that he is putting the people protection first above all else puts a lot of hearts at ease.
