Overview

  The year is 2094 and humanity is facing a hostile climate with rising temperatures. With the polar icecaps melted, Antarctica becoming an archipelago, major fossil fuel reservoirs completely depleted, and the despondent masses fractured by warring factions seeking legitimacy as new nations. The salvaging societies face threats in every shadow, must reconstruct their cities and the transportation in between to operate without the resources, that largely dissolved or destroyed corrupt governments sent tens of millions to their deaths for, and, with Earth's orbit as littered with infinitesimal scraps of destroyed shuttles and satellites, the means of escaping the dying planet is impeded on by the costs to clear a safe window is hardly a feasible option worth its risks thus resides one additional hope in theoretical quantum physics - to produce a gateway to other worlds.   The late-21st Century Earth holds little hope for humanity as they cannot overcome their own nature. In fact, they have lost touch with what it means to "be human". Coupling that with the Singularity event of 2033 in AI technology through Cerebral Artificial Intelligence Network, CAIN, the hastened production of Androids that can be educated and learn have further blurred the meaning of human nature and being human. In all, even though Androids proved to hold capabilities of doing all that humans can by 2040, even possessing similar body temperatures, a flesh-like material covering the skeletal structure, none of this stood to reason with the fearful politicians who sought to instate restrictions on the Synths.   Slated to be tested in a year's time, there remains troubles on earth as great beasts that appear human lurk in the concrete jungle and undead blood drinkers stalk the living. Humanity's Guardians devote their lives to bring these abominations to their knees, whereas a rise in magically-touched people revolt against the despotic, inhumane acts against those that were once human and alive.    

Humans

Having survived some 100,000 years as a species, humanity has come to witness and influence a lot on Earth. In the past two centuries alone, with the struggles to regulate industrialization and moving through the natural inter-glacial warming, leaves humanity in a crossroad - adapt at a rate that is near impossible to impose policy for, or find new means to acquire the resources needed with the technological capabilities at their disposal.  

Guardians

Since the dawn of time, the strongest of the tribes of humanity guided their people through treacherous jungles and mountain ranges, through the wretched cold northern lands to the relentless heart of desserts. As the migrations occurred, and throughout the early days of civilizations, the strongest remained the bastion between their people and the monsters that prowl the night.  

Scions

   

Mystic

Mankind has always sought a greater purpose to justify its own existence. Shamanistic practices carried throughout history as humans recognized their mortality and went on to honor and commune with the deceased and the primitive forces personified as gods. Cults to pantheons full of gods gave way to organized religions under state-mandated practice. It is those who experience the Awakening that will come to shape the small worlds their people inhabited, becoming the healers and mystics, the shamans and priests, the conjurers and banishers of forces beyond all others' understanding. The Mystic have long carried their varying traditions throughout the eons, and would be the ones to rediscover the traditions and ways of their gods when otherwise struck from existence and history.      

Vampires

Undead fiends that were once human that have an unknown origin. Most accuse the Devil, others find that perhaps it is God who cursed the dead and humanity for humanity's sins. What is known is that the war between them and humanity has progressed to an aggressive, public effort for Vampire extermination.    

Therians

Shapeshifters of various sorts. Walking the fine line of the uncanny valley between bestial and human features, the Therians also possess powerful animalistic features with humanity's ingenuity.   To some of you reading this - this sure looks familiar. Why? Everyone loves these ideas. Different games have their take, and Project Ambrosia will have its own where you will come to understand just the depths of differences with their presentations.   Known best as "Werewolves", "Lycanthropes", but encompass a range of animalistic forms and characterizations.    

Synths

  The year 2047 marked the age of the uncanny for technology. The Singularity event of technological prowess beyond normal human brain comprehension and AI technology along with synthetic human forms brought forth the Synths, cybernetic individuals that hold many human qualities. The decade leading up to this point saw many governments divisive and slow in preparation to minimize their ideas of what threats technology, especially AI and the progression towards Synth androids, would bring. Unfortunately, this propped up their presence to range in being allowed, even accepted as "lessers" amongst humans, particularly assistance and security for rich individuals, to being shot on sight if being found to cross the borders of paranoid states.
