Hokkreid

Known as the City of Giants, Hokkreid is a city where the disparate species of giants, despite their differences, coexist to the benefit of them all.

Government

Hokkreid is ruled by a council consisting of the eldest giant from each of the main species. Therefore, even the storm giants, few in number, have the same amount of power as the more numerous stone or fire giants.

Defences

As giants are some of the greatest warriors in the world, very few would be arrogant enough to attack a city full of thousands of them. Dragons, especially chromatic ones, have arrogance in spades, and the greed to motivate such an action. Still, they are aware of the danger, and full attacks are rare. More common are raids, wherein a dragon enters Hokkreid as stealthily as possible and tries to escape with clawfulls of treasure.

Infrastructure

Hokkreid exists in two parts: a sprawling underground complex inhabited primarily by stone and fire giants, and a brilliant mountaintop city where mostly frost and cloud giants dwell.

Districts

Each giant species tends to stay together, and mingles with the others mostly for trade. In this way, Hokkreid is more like a cluster of several cities. In the lowest depths of the underground, fire giants live around a natural magma flow which they use for energy. Above them, inhabiting most of the underground are the stone giants. Frost giants live on the outside of Hokkreid's snow-capped mountain, while the cloud giants make their homes on the peak, above the clouds. Hill giants hold no particular affinity towards any one area, and can be found throughout the city, as can storm giants. Both, however have communities in the central stone section where they often gather.

Assets

Hokkreid is a highly industrial city, and possesses a massive stockpile of treasure, including weapons, art, and other goods.

History

Hokkreid was originally founded by stone giants, and remained a simple settlement of stone giants for over a thousand years, until a group of fire giants approached, seeking access to the valuable ores found deeper beneath. The stone and fire giants made an arrangement, agreeing to share the space and Hokkreid's government, and for the fire giants to trade their expertly crafted weapons and armor. This equipment attracted the attention of the frost giants living in the mountains above, who also began contributing to trade. Over time, other giants would come to the city as well, until it was a center of commerce for all giants.
