Kuroi Sabaku

The Kuroi Sabaku {black desert} features picturesque volcanic mountains that appear blanketed with black char, with hot springs and salt lakes creating dreamlike natural spas. Cloud Peak the eminent attraction of Stargazer Wilderness Park (property of the Badawi Group {desert dweller} - the umbrella corporation under which the Malik and Rizvi Koichizoku partnership conducts business together), is among the most popular ascents in the region with big wall climbs on both the east and southeast faces and the Kiri no tsuki {misty moon} and Kodoku {solitude} trails provide challenging hikes that yield one breathtaking view after another. The Kuroi Sabaku covers an area over forty thousand square kilometers of rocky basaltic desert south of the Akichi Chiku and north of the Sharqiun Kiso Yama foothills formed by large lava flows into a massif of volcanic hills in the Eastern Desert province. The topography of depressions, rifts, and ridges with scattered arable patches is characterized by rocky soil and scarce vegetation, characteristicly acacia shrubland with patches of juniper at higher altitudes. The area comprises ancient volcanic fields formed by tectonic activity millennia ago. It contains the remains of more than eight hundred extinct and dormant volcanic cinder cones that reach an average altitude of eleven hundred meters above seal level. The plains are relatively low plateaus roughly six hundred meters above sea level that consist of the rocky remains of lava flows or large patches of arable land derived from decomposed basaltic and volcanic rock. The grassy arable oases fauna includes caracal, asian lion, mongoose, weasel, grey wolf, xolotl, idaina kemono {mighty beast}, honey badger, sandcat, gazelle, deer, wild goat, ibex, hyrax, jerboa, hedgehogs, oryx, striped hyena, golden jackal, ibis, kestrel, great bustard, golden and imperial eagles. Mount el-Leja {the refuge} is an extinct stratovolvano fourteen hundred meters high surrounded by an arable plateau that has been occupied since shortly after the Terran Alliance Navy (2217) populated the planet. The relatively frequent rainfall and an abundance of water springs allow the area to have stable grain, juniper, vineyard, and orchard (citrus, olives, nuts) cultivation, as well as pastures for sheep and goats. The el-Leja community produces one of the more sought after wines in the the distant Draconis Combine (and Nejiro), especially the Me Entoli tou Vakchou label. The vernacular architecture uses basalt exclusively in a fusion of ancient Greek and Roman styles.
