Military action
The conceding of Numunzat to the Ethelan and the surrender of the Belsumese there allowed for an Ethelan counter-offensive. Over the period of only 40 days, Ethelan troops pushed forward and captured numerous ill-equipped and demoralized Belsumese. The pace was so quick that Ethelan soldiers began to rely on provisions given to them by liberated civilians or stollen from Belsumese supplies instead of their own slower supply lines. The combination of the speed, the little fighting, and the celebrations in liberated cities gave rise to the name of the 40-Day Parade. The advance ended at the old Dwarven Stronghold of Galedhur, which had been turned into a forward operating station by the Belsumese.
