Political event
Over the course of around 19 days, the mountains of Maleseach shook and aIl mountain passageways connecting Semseach and the Darbreduun Valley to the rest of the Island were sealed. The Confederate government claimed this was the will of the Gods, but historians believe it was the work of the Confederate government itself in response to the atrocities in Zhinbir. Whatever the cause, the event successfully slowed the Ethelan take-over of Maletsok, but proved to be disastrous for the Confederacy. The closure of the mountain passes left the residents of Semseach (largely Hill Dwarves, Gnomes, and skilled craftsmen of various kind) abandoned, and public sentiment toward the old government quickly soured. Most Maletsokish in Semseach, especially the Hill Dwarves, switched their fealty to the Empire. The north, which the Confederacy had sacrificed so much to protect, was given to the Elves in a matter of weeks.
