Elainikan - Beastfolk

The Elainikan are an incredibly varied race of sentient creatures in Kakon with physical attributes similar to non-sentient creatures, such as cats, birds, lizards, and rabbits. Their populations can be found in the Northern Plains and the Karki Islands.

Origins

According to The Dying Birth, the Elainikan -- along with most other animals in Nedia -- were born from the tragedy of Eluuk and Kantasia. Eluuk was a fiend of a High Realm, while Kantasia was a celestial of a Low Realm. When Nedia was made, and the Peoples of the Realms met, the two fell in love. From their union, they bore many children who were gifted with the natural ability to incline toward both of their parents' alignments, Lawful and Chaotic.

When the Solwoln fell and inundated Udista, the young family was separated across the sea, many lost to lands far away. Eluuk and some of his children landed upon the shores of the continent Kakon. While his children, still youthful, quickly adapted to the new land, Eluuk could not live without his spouse. He threw himself into a river in the Northern Plains and drowned himself. The tragedy was witnessed by his children, many of whom abandoned sentience in order to forget the loss of their father. Those who abandoned their sentience are the beasts of Nedia. Those who held to their sentience are the Elainikan.
