Senate Research Team

This article is a part of Summer Camp 2023 and is still a work in progress.
The Senate Research Team - now the Senatorial Science Division - was a department of the government put together by the Core Senate during the period immediately after the Collapse. Largely the goal of their work was to analyze information that had been gathered since the start of the conflict with Baen Arleth and figure out how to handle it for future generations. One thing that the Senate wanted was to attempt to make sure that no one else could ever bring a good portion of the Cluster to its knees ever again.

What Did They Research

The research team looked over both military and civilian reports from all areas of the Cluster, starting with those that Baen Arleth had taken over first. This was in effort to get the clearest picture of the man's tactics and motivations as well as those of his followers.   They also were privy to the records of the Covert Company as they had the security clearance to see anything and everything that had been done in the war effort.

Who Were They

The original research team was made up of a group of more than two hundred, comprised of those recruited to the job and those who volunteered. Because of the need for security clearance to look at the information, more than four hundred applicants were denied the position for various reasons.   Members of the Senate Research Team had skills that tried to cover every angle of the information that they were looking into. There were then current and former military personnel to review tactics and organization, psychologists to analyze journals and captured communications to get a handle on the thought process on those who had followed Baen Arleth, engineers to look at captured weapons and records of fortifications, biologists to take assessment of what had been done to war torn regions, and more.

How Long Did They Work

Given the scope of information that they were dealing with, the research team had to take a very long time to look at everything.
