Career
Qualifications
The qualifications for this position are unbelievably high and include a ridiculous amount of degrees and qualifications that very few would be capable of receiving in a single lifetime. Due to this fact, this position is never offically open and has only ever been held by one person since it was created in 3418 AFT | 188 ATC. On paper it has been held by multiple people since the names of the person holding the position has changed over the years but behind the scenes it has been the same person for the entirety of this position's existence.
Payment & Reimbursement
The pay as a Research Special Operator is very high, the highest of anyone working on the research team for Barshenko-Hyland Defense. Due to the job coming directly from the company headquarters on Rasnes Betha, the pay is given in the amount of 20,000 Alalusian shinies every two mid-cycles. If needed at the time, these currency can be converted into whatever currency is needed at the moment due to the location of the Operator before being transferred to their account.
Perception
Purpose
The position of Research Special Operator was created specifically in 3418 AFT | 188 ATC as a position for Friendly Ramsey when he came to work for the company. Only the President and CEO of the company at the time are aware of his special circumstances and why this position exists.
Due to his existence as a living corpse, Ramsey is capable of going places and doing things that other researchers simply are not capable of. Should he run into unhospitable atmosphere suddenly, he has no issues with having to struggle for a breathing aparatus of any kind. He also has no issues with any problems that might arise with wild animals or other people as, even if he appears to die, he will return eventually and be able to continue his work.
Social Status
While the position of Research Special Operator enjoys a higher status amongst the ranks of those working for Barshenko-Hyland Defense, it does not really hold any status anywhere else. Those who are in the same business as BHD will be aware of what the Operator does and will likely be impressed with whatever “they” have acheived in the current lifetime of the position, anyone not in the same business will have no idea about what the Operator does. The general populace may be aware of some of the achievements the position has made over the years but they will not know the exact details of what the Operator has done like someone in the same business would.
History
The position was created in 3418 AFT | 188 ATC by then President of Barshenko-Hyland Defense, Stefan Lien, when Friendly Ramsey came to work for the company. One of Lien's great-great-great-grandfather's was Corvin Lien, who was one of the two surviving members of the Covert Company. Corvin had known about Ramsey's particular circumstances of being, having discovered it when they were on a mission together and Ramsey took a bullet that would have killed Corvin.
After the Collapse, the three surviving members of the Covert Company kept in touch and Friendly Ramsey was a familiar face at the Lien home on Tit Gamat in the Hani System. The family, at least, became loosely aware of Ramsey's nature and all of the Lien's were familiar with him. Eventually he became a sort of adopted uncle in the family.
By 3410 AFT | 180 ATC, when Stefan became the President of the company, the Lien family was aware that Ramsey was having trouble holding down a position during the immediate years after the Collapse. Stefan offered him a special position at the company that year but did not hear anything until 3418 AFT | 188 ATC when Ramsey privately reached out to him inquiring about the position.
