Ertubur
This small Steelhilt clan specializes in mortuary services, including everything from autopsies to providing ceremonial garments and paraphernalia for the funeral. While dwarves of other clans consider Ertubur a respectable and important clan, and will make use of their services when needed, they also see Ertubur as being somewhat morbid and will often avoid members when they do not need those services. This morbid reputation, however, is unearned. Members of Clan Ertubur are often outgoing, friendly, and just as prone to drinking and partying off-duty as any other dwarf.
Clan members generally dress unobtrusively and avoid ostentatious displays of jewellery. This is out of respect for the dead and the mourning families whom they deal with in their day-to-day work. However, they will adjust as necessary to the beliefs of the mourners, and if the families want ostentatious displays, then Clan Ertubur will supply them and will even don the decorated rich fabrics of Clan Runebinder or the religious masks of Clan Oriddus.
The Ertubur clan hall, located in King's Heart, is a massive mausoleum/cathedral. It houses the tombs of its own clan members, as well as homes for many of its currently living members, including Clanleader Brodar Bedd. There are also halls dedicated to all the gods of the Dwarven Pantheon (except Droskar), as well as gods of numerous other faiths, including Rivethun, Pharasma, Cayden Cailean, Gorum, and more. Finally, there are several halls for people who prefer secular services unconnected to any god or faith.
Clanleader Brodar Bedd is an ancient dwarf, approaching his 350th year. Many people, both inside the clan and outside, whisper that Brodar's health is failing and his remaining time on this plane is limited. He is highly loved by his clan and when his time comes, the clan will mourn him greatly. Succession, however, will not be an issue. Brodar made arrangements for his passing more than a century ago, and the clan is ready. He has already outlived all his children, so leadership will pass to his eldest grandchild, Grimpar Bedd, an accomplished alchemist who has advanced the field of embalming considerably in his 175 years. Although not as beloved as his grandfather, he is still highly respected by the clan.
