Lord Alexander Embershard
Lord Alexander Sertevious Embershard
During the time of the Necrophage, when the king of Denlock was killed and chaos ensued the kingdom, Alexander proclaimed himself King of his own kingdom. One that would bear his families house name. The Embershard Kingdom was born and the city of Pluto became the capital of this new seat of power. Alexander ruled with an iron fist and pleged that his people would not become victims of the Necrophage. While those who lived in hovels and shacks outside the walls of Pluto where abandoned to the walking dead, those who lived inside the walls were spared the horrors of the outside world.
When outbreaks of infection started cropping up within the city though, Alexander had to act. One of the most controversial and horrid acts of his reign was the collection of the infected persons within his city and placing them in temples. All were told that they would be healed. In reality, when all of the infected were rounded up, the doors to these temples slammed shut and temples were set alight. The infected were purged from the city and a larger outbreak was avoided. Those who were alive to hear the screams had gotten their first taste of this new dark world in which they inhabited now and for many years to come.
Alexander sought to cement his new kingdom and expand his borders while the rest of the world choked on the Necrophage. To do this, he needed to be one step ahead of his enemies. He sent an agent into the dark forest of Ruminia with the task of stealing an ancient seeing stone from the moon elves who inhabit the forest. The Orbuculum of Ruminia was sucessfully delivered to Alexander and he began using the stone to plan his conquest of old Denlock; now swarming with undead. Next Alexander set his sights on the Isles of Nilvirkus. The dragon king was younger at this time but he was already quite cunning. Alexander sent an ambassador to the isles and discussed terms of having an army of Dragonborn given to him in exchange for a service to Nilvirkus. The Dragon king only wanted one thing. He knew about the theft of the Orbuculum of Rumina and wanted it for himself. Nilvirkus would give Alexander the army he so desperately desired but he must be willing to give up the stone. Alexander lied and told the dragon that he agreed to the terms. Alexander of course, had no intention of parting with the Orbuculum and began to devise a way to trick the dragon. As Dragonborn began filling the ranks of his army and land was slowly falling under control of the crown, the Orbuculum was stolen from Alexander and ended up in the hands of Cain Lathalas, Naphus’s firstborn Aasimar. Cain would use the Orbuculum for the remainder of the Necrophage. Meanwhile, with no Orbuculum to give the dragon king, a new deal would be enforced. The new kingdom of Embershard would have to pay the equivalent of 950 Gold for each Dragonborn sent to the mainland. Many Dragonborn defected and fled to different corners of the continent to live out their days away from the Dragon kings tyrannical rule and the Embershards war. In the end, the Emberhard Kingdom did cement itself in the history books, but at a cost that the royal family still pays for to this day.
