Session 3: A Bhaaler Night Report
General Summary
After defeating the Spectator in the bustling town of Thauna, the Fondudes decided to pay a visit to The Pharmagician, a local alchemy shop that they had been instructed to go to by Venali, the top wizard of Thauna. Venali believed that they could make contact with someone at the shop who would be able to help them find the person or persons who had attempted to kill her.
Upon entering the store, they were greeted by Janet, the shopkeeper, a friendly and knowledgeable gnome who seemed eager to help them find what they needed. The Fondudes explained that they had been sent by Venali to speak with Tall Steve, and Janet told them that to take them to him, they must take a potion. However, she did not explain what the potion did. Despite their reservations, the Fondudes agreed and drank the potion.
Immediately, they found themselves in a basement sitting at a table across from Tall Steve, the mysterious gnome leader of The Favored, and his personal bodyguard, a tall and extremely strong aasimar called Short Paula who did not speak. Tall Steve explained that The Favored had factions all over Naomh and offered the Fondudes a job: to eradicate a local cult of Bhaal, the god of murder, that was indiscriminately and ritualistically murdering innocent people. He gave them some clues as to how to find the cultists and the Fondudes agreed to take on the job.
After leaving the hideout, the Fondudes settled in at The Lantern Inn, where Jherzes had a sexual encounter with a dwarf.
That evening day, they staked out the cultists and followed them to their secret cult headquarters, where they brought their victims to be murdered in rituals. The Fondudes fought bravely and were able to defeat all of the cultists, including one called Greg for whom the other cultists were throwing a little birthday party with cake and all. They also defeated the local cult leader, Tom Bodet, and saved a hostage from being killed.
