The Feedback

I am an aromantic, ace-spec, cis woman writing a gay romance story. There are things that I do not understand, and perspectives I will never truly get. That's why we hire people!! So I'll be going over this process briefly without giving away spoilers for the story (mostly because they could change and I don't want to be committed to anything). I got some things right and I got a lot of things wrong. Moving forward I would like to incorporate the feedback I received on topic such as homophobia, gender roles, worldbuilding, and some grammar things that will need to be further refined after the marathon that is NaNo.

The Plan

by RandoScorpio

The plan is simple: get to the end. The first draft/outline gave me a really good idea on the characters and a strong sense of where I want the story to go. Incorperating the feedback will help to improve the way it's presented and deepen the characters and world. The first draft was written from the perspective that everyone knows what dungeons and dragons is and all the nebulous sexuality that space encompasses. Having a reader who was not from the same circles as me was helpful in highlighting the areas where I can expand the world, paint a more detailed and understandable picture of the society in the world, and finally expand a little outside that realm of dungeons and dragons while keeping the story relevant to the original purpose and inspiration.

That Sounds Hard

Yes. I will not lie, I'm a little daunted by the scale and scope, but I hope by the time NaNo roles around I'll pick up at least one or two readers to discover the story along with me. The support of a reader or two can make all the difference in the world. The worldbuilding will be tackled here in this little nest, maps, names, family members, full character spreads and descriptions, whatever I can get done before November 1st I will get done.
